Daddy told me that there has not been one day since WWII that British servicemen and women have not been in conflict somewhere in the world. Scary thought and almost hard to believe but sadly it is a fact.
I can't tell you how the weekend has been without tears, some anger and some pride too but this time of year gets to a lot of veterans, especially those who have seen fighting. They think of friends they have lost and dark thoughts creep into their heads. Tempers become short and arguments start. Don't get me wrong, it isn't just the veterans fault. An argument takes too, but please, if this is what it is like in your house at the minute ignore everyone who is grumpy or shouting and remember you are not to blame. Daddy often tells me that adults fight. I know that and understand that but I do sometimes think that listening to each other may help or even better actually telling the other person how you feel and why if you can.
I won't say what I have been thinking but I know that I am dreading winter, dark mornings and early evenings, cold and wet weather. The perfect conditions for PTSD to breed and take it's grip tighter and tighter on the person affected.
I will say goodnight and sleep in peace to all those who gave their lives to make sure we are free.
Thank you
