Remember, remember the 5th November, rockets and bangers and noise.
Please, please, please enjoy firework night but remember that there are thousands of veterans living in the UK that hate firework night with a passion. Fireworks can sound like gun fire and explosions and can make a fully grown man or woman hit the floor shaking, and waiting for the worst.
There are also all the animals to think about, not just cats and dogs but also farm animals, horses, rabbits etc.
If your mates have a packet of fireworks think about where you are letting them off and more importantly be really careful. They are not toys and should be treated as dangerous weapons, which they are. After all they are small bombs waiting to go bang in one way or another. I love fireworks but I would rather go to see an organised display.. My friends are pretty good and can be sensible but I know that if they decided to have a bonfire party, I would not go. My mum and dad would freak because they would worry that something may happen and I wouldnt go either for the same reasons. You may think that I am boring and I may be; but I would rather be safe and boring and if my friends dont like it, they are not my friends.
My thought for the day. I would rather put my pocket money into a charity collection box than see it go bang and nothing to show for it after ten minutes. Dont get me wrong, go to a firework display, see the fireworks and stand near the bonfire warming your hands giggling with your mates but dont nag at your mums and dads to o out and buy them. There could be animals living next door that are afraid of the noises, or the local farm animals who could run through fences in fear or worse still there could be a veteran sitting in his living room, shaking too afraid to walk into the kitchen to put the kettle on or go to the loo. Sitting frightened and embarrassed that they need to have the TV volume on full because they cannot cope with the events outside their windows.
Please, also think that these men and women are not grumpy and boring, they do not mean to stop their children having fun and are not being tight by not taking their kids to firework displays or having a huge bonfire in their gardens; they are being them. Heroes who fought for our country and people we should all be proud of
