The summer holidays seemed to fly by and if I am honest I probably haven't done as much as I usually would have done. I seriously thought about giving up my blog and still have my doubts if it is worth while.
Went to the Equifest and th MHHA club show. Working weekend and Feastival of Heavy Horses at Hobeache Suffolks and spent a day logging.
Yes, I know that I am boring you all with horsey things but they are a huge part of my life and I am joint editor of our club magazine.
The club show went well, we managed to get a harness on Fergie and he got a fourth in the gelding class. I didn't take him into the harness class as I thought it was a huge achievement just to get the harness on and did not want to push him out of his comfort zone. He did really well and I am so proud of him.
The festival was also a great success and I met a really talented guy who logs with his stunnig stallion Remco. He was called Mike Paddock, is only in his early 20's and wow he is impressive. He is so quiet almost whispering to his horse, gentle movements, really seemed to understand the intelligent horsemanship way of working though I am sure he uses his own methods.
As for Remco, I have never seen a horse with so much muscle and a gentle kind personality (he is the horse in the picture above). As you will know by know horses are a huge part of my life and I asked if I could go and spend a day logging before I sign up for a course.
Mike kindly said yes and I travelled over to Ledbury where I spent a wonderful afternoon working in the forest with Mike and Remco. A logging course is next on my "to do" list. Though Mike's boss sadly died so I can't really sign up until everything is settled. They also run a woodcutting course, would it be a wise move to give a dippy blonde a chainsaw to play with .....Hummmm!
I have an interview with the Agricultural College to start an Autumn and need to sort out my driving lessons. I am letting things slip. Could not get on with my drving instructor and cancelled my lessons but have decided that I want to take a crash course where I have a week. Think it may well be the best way for me to learn and wont give me time to panic.
